1 cup cold water
2/3 cup yellow cornmeal
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/3 cup cornstarch
1 egg lightly beaten
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
vegetable oil for frying
1/2 cup dijon mustard
2 tbsp fresh dill
2 tbsp honey
Mix water, cornmeal, flour, cornstarch, egg, baking powder, and salt to make batter (will be slightly lumpy).
Add 1 inch of oil to skillet and heat to 350 F.
Dip asparagus in batter and fry in hot oil until golden brown (about 4 to 5 minutes).
Mix mustard, dill, and honey to make dip.
